Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to feature in his 300th One Day International as India takes on the Sri Lankans in the 4th ODI of a 5 match series. The iconic right hander will join a list of elites when he touches the 300 match mark and will be the 6th Indian to achieve the remarkable feat. Sachin Tendulkar (463), Rahul Dravid (344), Mohammad Azharuddin (334), Sourav Ganguly (311) and Yuvraj Singh (304) are the stalwarts who have reached this landmark.

Out of favor batsman, Suresh Raina took to his official Twitter account to pay tribute to Mahendra Singh Dhoni who has had a major role to play in Raina’s career. The left handed genius wished the inventor of the helicopter shot ahead of his to-be-significant One Day International. Raina also mentioned that Dhoni has been nothing short of an inspiration in his life and the fact that he has learnt a lot from the legendary skipper. The tweet was paired with a beautiful picture of Raina and Dhoni hugging each other in the blue colour.

Raina’s tweet read “The iconic wicketkeeper-batsman @msdhoni gets ready for his 300th ODI match! My wishes to the man who always inspires me! #INDvsSL #Dhoni300″.

There is no doubt over the fact that Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni share a bond of mutual love and respect. Raina’s One Day international career flourished under the leadership of MS Dhoni and the latter had immense faith in the capabilities of Suresh Raina. Both the cricketers have been involved in several match winning knocks for India and have established themselves as excellent finishers of the game.

Both the cricketers played together for the Chennai Super Kings in the lucrative Indian Premier League and had a massively glorious journey. Chennai Super Kings lifted the trophy twice and made it to the finals several times with the help of notable contributions from Dhoni and Raina. Though Raina is not a part of the Sri Lanka series, it can be assumed that the partnership of these two cricketers down the order will be missed by Team India.
