Kagiso Rabada hogged all the limelight in the recent awards ceremony held by Cricket South Africa (CSA) in Johannesburg. He won as many as six awards out of the 8 available to him and all were well-deserved as he was the top performer of the team. However, Rabada himself had not expected so many accolades for displaying his prowess on the field and has thanked his fans for all the wishes.

Rabada won both, the ODI and Test Cricketer of the Year, awards while also being named as the SA Fans and SA Players’ Player of the Year. His peach of a delivery to dismiss David Warner in the third Test against Australia at Newlands was honoured as well with the Ram Delivery of the Year award.

The 23-year-old scalped as many as 72 wickets in 13 Test matches and also became the top bowler in the whites in the ICC Test Rankings. While he couldn’t replicate the similar record in the limited-overs format, the fast bowler was always there for the team which was in a fix due to injuries to the key players.

Kagiso Rabada himself had not expected to win all these awards as he felt that there were so many great performances from many of his teammates during the season. However, he was grateful to everyone for supporting him during his career which is growing in stature ever since he has donned the jersey for his country for the first time. He posted a message for his fans on Twitter and thanked them for all the compliments. He was also excited to get back on to the field as South Africa will face Sri Lanka in their own backyard.

“Taken aback by all the awards I received….. I did not think the night would go that way, because, so many members of the team had great seasons. However, i want to thank everyone for their well wishes, it’s not taken for granted ! I Cannot wait to get back with the team,” his heartfelt message read.
