Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni stunned all his critics with a belligerent ton in the Cuttack ODI against England recently. The ton was only yet another high point in the illustrious career of the Indian wicket keeper. The man from Ranchi has taken giant strides in the game ever since making his international debut.

Dhoni was rewarded with the role of India’s captain for the inaugural ICC World T20 in South Africa in 2007. The new captain and the new look Indian team under his leadership did the improbable. India emerged victorious in the tournament and Dhoni had announced himself as the next generation leader of the team.

Rahul Dravid’s stepping down from the ODI captaincy saw him as the ideal successor in ODIs. It was only a matter of time that Dhoni became the full-time captain of the Indian team in all the three formats of the game. He managed to lead India to the number one rankings in Test cricket. It was under his leadership that India won the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.

The only ICC Trophy that eluded him was the Champions Trophy. He got that too in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy in England. There is no denial of the fact that MS Dhoni is arguably the best and most successful Indian captain of all time, if not the best in the world cricket.

Dhoni has the knack of taking people by surprise with his decisions. His most recent decision that took everyone aback was to step down as the Indian skipper. But stepping down from the coveted position takes nothing away from India’s most successful skipper. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is very well aware of this fact. They have decided to honor and felicitate MS Dhoni at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata during the final ODI against England.

As per the reports in Xtratime.in, Dhoni will be presented a memento and a scarf on the occasion. He will also be given a Swarovski horse by the Cricket Association of Bengal. Interestingly, CAB president Sourav Ganguly is also an ardent fan of Dhoni. To make the occasion even more special, there are reports that suggest Dhoni’s relatives and family members will be present at the venue during the match. The third ODI will be played on January 22.
