The 2018 edition of the premier T20 domestic competition of the Indian calendar has got underway. Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy has been the breeding ground for the young domestic talent to showcase their talent at the bigger stage. In the recent developments about the 2018 edition, team Madhya Pradesh have announced their squad for the competition.

All-rounder Harpreet Singh Bhatia has been named as the captain of the team. He has been a regular member of the Madhya Pradesh camp for last couple of seasons. Harpreet, who was once on the IPL roster, found no takers in the IPL auctions last year. Now, he will have a good chance to make his presence count.

The timing of the 2018 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is such that it provides the IPL teams to look out for fresh domestic talent. The talent scouting teams will certainly be keeping a close eye on the competition. After going unsold at the auctions last year, Harpreet Singh had found eventual takers midway through the season.

He had replaced Sarfraz Khan in the Royal Challengers Bangalore camp after Sarfraz injured himself during a practice session. Along with Harpreet, there are other big names in the Madhya Pradesh camp who have played for the national side. The prominent name that stands out is veteran wicketkeeper batsman Naman Ojha. Also, pacer Ishwar Pandey has been named in the side.

There was a time when Ishwar Pandey was a regular face in the Indian side and also a key player in the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. It comes as a surprise that Avesh Khan has not been picked up in the squad. Avesh was seen in the India U19 team in the U19 World Cup 2016 and had also played in the IPL 2017 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Here is the Madhya Pradesh squad for the tournament:

Harpreet Singh, Ankit Sharma, Avesh Khan, Ankit Dane, Puneet Datey, Sohraab Dhaliwal, Mihir Hirwani, Venkatesh Iyer, Saransh Jain, Ankit Kushwah, Naman Ojha, Ishwar Pandey, Rajat Patidar, Parth Sahani, Anshul Tripathi, Ashutosh Sharma.
