IPL 2022 is all going in full flair and enthusiasm where various players have been putting in hard yards to take their game to next level. In the same light, one bowler that has managed to impress Sunil Gavaskar happens to be SRH pacer, T Natarajan. Natarajan, who is currently in the second slot in the race to Purple Cap, has been producing some great performances for his team of late.

Even in SRH’s last game against RCB, Orange Army’s bowlers stunned Faf du Plessis and his men to wrap them up on just 68 runs. While Marco Jansen wreaked havoc in the initial overs (his first one), it was Natarajan who went on to take three wickets to disturb RCB’s middle and lower order while conceding just 10 runs. Gavaskar stated that with the way the left-arm pacer is delivering, he will be surely in contention for the selection for World Cup.

“We all know his yorkers are his specialty but he held the ball back well. It’s good to see him back because for some time it looked like Indian cricket had lost him. It’s good to have him back in contention. I am pretty sure, with the way he bowls between the 16th and the 20th over, he will be very much in contention,” said Gavaskar while speaking to Star Sports.

The Indian legendary cricketer was also of the opinion that Natarajan wasn’t able to bring his best to the table last year due to injury concerns and all. However, his comeback seems extremely promising and he would be leaving no stone unturned to catch the flight for Australia that is the 2022 T20 WC.

“Last year, perhaps, he wasn’t on top of his game. Right now, he is full of confidence. He has had his share of injuries but he is fresh and raring to go. He recognizes that there is a World Cup coming up, he wants to be on that flight to Australia,” Gavaskar added.
