Just when the cricket fans had started to believe that the T20 format of the game is perhaps the shortest one, the pundits came up with the prospect of playing T10 League. Last year, the first edition of the T10 League proved to catch quite a lot of attention. Albeit the league did not see the modern day masters participate in it, they did manage to rope in some big names from the world cricket.

Now, the 2018 edition of the tournament is all set to get underway in Sharjah. The Sharjah Cricket Stadium will play the host of the tournament. It will kick off on November 21 and will run on till December 2. This year, the tournament has gained recognition from the ICC. The organisers, taking the full bounty of this appreciation, have decided to conduct 29 matches.

Some of the big names participating in the tournament will be Virender Sehwag, Sunil Narine, Shahid Afridi, Rashid Khan, Eoin Morgan, etc. This season, as many as 8 teams will participate in the competition. The 8 teams would be – Kerala Kings, Punjab Legends, Maratha Arabians, Bengal Tigers, The Karachians, Rajputs, Northern Warriors and Pakhtoons. The organisers have also planned some more changes in the tournament including proper audits and Anti-Corruption Unit in place.

“The first edition of the T10 League in 2017 was an exciting experience of launching a completely new concept of 90 minutes cricket. This year, we have shown keen interest in recruiting for crucial positions; umpires from ICC panel, Ernst and Young as external auditors, ICC Anti-Corruption Unit to handle the anti-corruption, Roshan Mahanama as the head of technical committee, Wasim Akram as director of talent hunt programme,” T10 League chairman Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk quoted in an official statement.

No parties for the players during T10 League

Furthermore, to avoid any issues with the unwanted approaches made to the players, the organisers have decided to pass a regulation on the players wherein they will not be invited to attend any parties during the competition.

“Also, this time, we have passed a regulation that players will not be invited to after parties to eliminate the chances of questionable elements approaching players in such places,” he remarked further.
