In the first match of the 2018 T10 League against Sindhis at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Afghanistan batsman Mohammad Shahzad stole the show with an audacious knock of 74 runs from 16 deliveries, carved with eight sixes, and helped his team- Rajputs- win the match by 10 wickets and with six overs to spare. All eyes were on the 30-year-old in Rajputs’ second match against Pakhtoons today.
However, he couldn’t quite replicate his form in the last match and could only manage six runs from as many balls. Pakistani fast bowler Sohail Khan held his nerves and bowled an over, which included as many as five dot deliveries. Shahzad flayed his bat around with all his might but strained to make a proper connection. The swashbuckling batsman managed to hit the second ball for a six.
In the last ball, Shahzad holed out to Shahid Afridi, the Pakhtoons’ skipper. The crowd would’ve been disappointed for the fact the star batsman perished early. In the meantime, a funny incident panned out. After his dismissal, Sohail hilariously poked fun at Shahzad and also grabbed him by his bulging belly. The batter didn’t retaliate and seemed to have liked the gesture.

Shahzad’s pot belly has also raised questions over his fitness to play the sport. However, the Nangarhar-born wicketkeeper-batsman isn’t concerned by the same. Recently, Shahzad mentioned that he doesn’t like the yo-yo Test and also said that he takes care of his fitness apart from simultaneously eating a lot.
As far as the match is concerned, Rajputs lost it by nine wickets. After losing the toss, Rajputs put on 121 runs for the loss of three wickets courtesy of a 29-ball 58 from Brendon McCullum. Nevertheless, Windies batsman Andre Fletcher came to the party with 68 runs from 27 balls and denied Rajputs a win.
