T10 League 2019: Day 1, Round-up

Three exciting games of cricket were played on the opening day of the T10 League 2019. It all started off with the proceedings between the Maratha Arabians and Northern Warriors. This game of the T10 League witnessed a complete Andre Russell show. He excelled both with the bat as well as the ball to help his team comfortably get over the line.

After being put in to bat first, the Maratha Arabians struggled as they lost four wickets halfway through the innings. Things seemed quite difficult for them before Dasun Shanaka came to the rescue. His 19-ball 37 helped the side get to 88 in 10 overs. Andre Russell and Chris Wood picked up two wickets each. However, for the Arabians, this score wasn’t going to be sufficient. Russell remained unbeaten on 58 off 24 balls and helped finish the game for his team with 9 wickets remaining. George Munsey remained unbeaten on 24.

The Deccan Gladiators were in control for the most part of the game against Delhi Bulls. Shane Watson with an unbeaten 57 in the company of Anton Devcich guided the team to 102/1 in 10 overs. Then, the Bulls were brought down to 28/3 within three overs. But, Eoin Morgan and Angelo Mathews took over from thereon. They gave the Gladiators no chance and helped complete the chase with three balls to spare.

The third game was possibly the most exciting game on the first day of the T10 League. Batting first, the Qalandars fought their way through to 103/6 after Corey Anderson scored 43 runs. In the chase, Team Abu Dhabi got close but couldn’t get over the line. They have themselves to blame as they should have easily completed the chase. This game ended in a draw. Probably, Luke Ronchi’s sluggish 19-ball 23 cost them the game.
