Durham will be locking horns with Worcestershire in the North Group clash of the T20 Blast 2022 at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on June 1. Both teams have struggled to get going in this tournament. Durham have only managed to register a solitary win from the three games played so far. Even though they kicked off their campaign with an emphatic 54-run victory over Leicester, they went on to suffer losses in their following two games against Northamptonshire and Warwickshire by 31 runs and five wickets respectively. Thus, they are in dire need to get their campaign back on track.

Worcestershire, on the other hand, are in all sorts of trouble as they find themselves languishing at the bottom of the table. They have failed to register even a single win in their last three outings in the ongoing season. They went down to Yorkshire in their campaign opener on May 25 by seven wickets and then ended up registering back-to-back losses against Nottinghamshire by four wickets and Lancashire by 12 runs respectively.

Pitch Report

The pitch at the Riverside Ground is good for batting with the ball expected to come nicely onto the bat.  A high-scoring encounter can be expected on this surface with the batters making merry once they are well-set at the crease. There is no assistance for the bowlers and all they can do from their end is to bowl in the right areas with a disciplined line and length. The batting side will be favorable in the second innings. Therefore, the captain winning the toss will look to bowl first.

Probable Playing XIs for DUR vs WOR

Probable Top Performers

Probable best batter of the match

Colin Munro:

New Zealand T20 specialist Colin Munro did miss out in the opening game, but made up for it brilliantly with consecutive half-centuries against Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire scoring 66 and 53. With 119 runs from two outings, the Kiwi power-hitter would be hoping to play another impactful knock as his side desperately need a win on the board. More importantly, the seasoned cricketer would be expected to add finished touches in the middle-order.

Liam Trevaskis:

Liam Trevaskis was the pick of the bowlers for Durham in their last encounter against Warwickshire as he finished with figures of 2/35 from his four overs. Even though the skipper accounted for Paul Stirling and Adam Hose, he was also a bit expensive with the ball in hand as he ended up bowling at an economy rate of 8.8. Trevaskis would be hoping to showcase a better performance this time around.

Today’s Match Prediction: Worcestershire to win the match.
