T20 Blast 2022: Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan rejoin; Mohammad Amir replaces Naseem Shah

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is back in the Sussex County side for the remaining games of the T20 Blast 2022. Rizwan was part of the recently concluded three-match ODI series against West Indies at home and the club announced the return of the right-hander for the next two games against Essex and Glamorgan.

Rizwan has been in tremendous form in the T20 format and his return will bolster the line-up heavily. Sussex will be hoping that Rizwan can change their fortunes around as they have managed to win just three of the eight games this season and are at the sixth position in the points table.

Apart from Rizwan, all-rounder Shadab Khan has joined Yorkshire after his international commitments got over. The 23-year-old starred for Pakistan in the final ODI against West Indies with both bat and ball. The leg-spinner had already received the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PCB to take part in the T20 Blast ahead of the West Indies series and Yorkshire interim managing director Darren Gough was quite happy to welcome him.

“Shadab is an amazing player, he can bat as high as three, which he did in the PSL, or as low as six, seven or eight to really strengthen our lower order,” Gough was quoted as saying by CricketPakistan.com.

Mohammad Amir to join Gloucestershire

Meanwhile, Pakistan‘s left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir is set to be back with Gloucestershire after a short stint in the County Championship with them earlier this season. Amir has replaced youngster Naseem Shah in the squad but is yet to get approval from the PCB. Given his experience in the T20 format, Amir will be a great option for the Gloucestershire side who have four wins in eight games so far in the tournament this season.

“Gloucestershire is pleased to announce that former Pakistan International bowler Mohammad Amir is to return to BS7,” the county announced in a press release.

Steve Snell, Gloucestershire Cricket Performance Director, said: “We are delighted to welcome back Mohammad to the squad. He’s a proven international performer and to have his experience available to us for the remainder of the Blast tournament will be invaluable. He has spent a lot of time with us this season and he knows the environment well, so for him to join us at this time will greatly help as we look to kick on for the second half of the T20 Blast campaign.”
