Shan Masood, who was in red hot form in the recent County Championship 2022, is set to lead the Derbyshire side in the upcoming T20 Blast 2022. The Pakistan batter is at top of the run charts in Division two of the County Championship and he certainly has enjoyed his stint in the country so far.

In six games, Masood finished with 844 runs at an average of 93.77 for Derbyshire and was making runs for fun against quality bowling attacks. Masood managed three centuries and three half-centuries in the process with the highest score of 239.

This will be a huge boost to his T20 career in terms of leadership capabilities and he has been a prolific run-scorer for Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League. Alongside Masood’s appointment as skipper, Billy Godleman has been selected as the red-ball captain for the county side.

Shan has an aura about him; he has a stature and the players support him: Mickey Arthur

Derbyshire’s newly appointed head coach Mickey Arthur noted how Masood stands above out from other names and mentioned the players backing him as well. He added about Leus du Plooy being appointed as the vice-captain of the side and revealed his excitement to see how the players go about their business in the T20 format. Arthur who was associated with the Sri Lanka team as the head coach had stepped down last year to join the county side.

“Shan has an aura about him; he has a stature and the players support him,” Arthur was quoted by the Cricketer. “He comes in as captain and Leus du Plooy will be vice-captain, so there’s a leadership change there, and one that I’m excited to see go about their work in white-ball cricket.”

Meanwhile, the T20 Blast gets underway on the 25th of May and will go on until the 16th of July.
