Former cricketers Brad Haddin and Isa Guha picked Australia’s best Playing eleven for the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup. In the warm-up matches, the Aussies started with a three-wicket win over New Zealand followed by a nine-wicket loss at the hands of India. Their first game in the Super 12s is against South Africa on October 23 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Both Guha and Haddin picked Aaron Finch and David Warner as their openers. But while Haddin went for Mitchell Marsh at No.3, Guha selected Glenn Maxwell for the slot. Marsh was Australia’s leading run-scorer in the series against Bangladesh and West Indies.

While batting at three, the right-handed batter scored 376 runs from 10 matches with four half-centuries. Marsh scored a 15-ball 24 against the Black Caps in the warm-up and then followed it up with a golden duck against the Men in Blue on Wednesday.

Maxwell, on the other hand, was the leading run-scorer for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2021 Indian Premier League. In both the line-ups, Steve Smith, who’s predominantly a top-order batter, bats below number three. In Haddin’s lineup, he was slotted at No.5.

Guha and Haddin picked Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade and Ashton Agar at No.6, 7 and 8 respectively. Guha reckoned that Mitchell Starc is a better lower-order batter and hence, slotted him above Pat Cummins in her eleven. In Haddin’s lineup, Cummins bats above Starc. Adam Zampa featured at No.11 in both lineup.

Zampa was effective in the warm-ups as he had figures of 4-0-17-2 against the Black Caps. In the game against India, he couldn’t pick up a wicket and went for 29 runs in three overs at an economy rate of 9.67. He along with Agar and Maxwell are the spin-bowling options in Australia’s lineup.
