T20 World Cup 2021: Dwayne Bravo falls after Pollard's shot almost hits him, bat flies away

Australia and West Indies have locked horns in the first game on Saturday (November 6) in Abu Dhabi. The Caribbean side is already knocked out of the T20 World Cup having lost three out of four games in the Super 12 stage. On the other hand, Australia are looking to seal their place in the semi-finals with South Africa breathing down their neck.

It wasn’t easy going for the West Indies batting first as they lost their five wickets with only 91 runs on the board. Kieron Pollard was in the middle for some time by then and Dwayne Bravo, playing his last international game, walked out to bat in the 13th over of the innings. However, little did he know then that his skipper would almost hit him in a couple of overs’ time.

In the 15th over of the innings, Mitchell Marsh delivered a length ball to the West Indies captain Kieron Pollard who swatted it down the ground. The shot was so powerful that the ball almost hit Dwayne Bravo. Rather he did well to get out of the way and Bravo was left in disarray in the middle. In an attempt to save himself, he took evasive action and lost control of his bat and fell off. Eventually, the two batters managed to pick up a single that was on offer.

Bravo scored 10 runs in his final innings

As far as Dwayne Bravo is concerned, he couldn’t light up the venue with the bat scoring only 10 runs off 12 balls. Josh Hazlewood dismissed him in the 18th over of the innings and now he would be looking to do well with the ball in his last international game. Meanwhile, West Indies finished with a competitive total of 157 runs on the board thanks to Andre Russell who smacked two sixes off the last two balls of the innings. Kieron Pollard also did his bit scoring 44 runs off 31 balls with four fours and a six.

West Indies would be eager to bow out of the tournament on a high and it remains to be seen if they can restrict Australia who are also seeking a lift in their NRR with South Africa at the third position.
