Cricket is one of the biggest sports in the world. It has fans all across the globe. As a matter of fact, it wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that cricket has devotees.

This has lead to a humungous engagement over the last few decades. Thus, the engagement ultimately leads to more revenue and more money. The endgame of this cycle is cricketers getting paid more than what they used to sometime ago.

Thus, all cricketers representing their national side get a huge salary. However, which player gets the highest salary from each team? With the T20 World Cup (WC) nearing, let us take a look at the highest paid cricketer from each team from the T20 WC.

Here’s the list from the T20 World Cup

8) Bangladesh- Shakib Al Hasan: INR 41 Lakh

Shakib Al Hasan is arguably one of the greatest match winners of this era. Seldom would you find an all-rounder as impactful as him. He has been one of the greatest Bangladeshi cricketers of all time.

After a torrid time in 2019 when he was banned from playing international cricket due to well documented reasons, he managed to make a comeback. A lot will depend on the all-rounder if Bangladesh are to have a good T20 WC. Besides, Bangladesh only stand a chance to qualify for the Super 12 stage if they finish in the top two of their group.

Shakib, however, is the highest-paid cricketer from Bangladesh as well. His annual salary is 41 Lakh Indian rupees. The fact that he plays all formats has helped his cause.

7) Pakistan- Babar Azam: INR 62.40 Lakh:

Pakistan’s form has been topsy-turvy to say the least. Their fans have termed it as being “Unpredictable”. This unpredictably might just come in handy for them in the upcoming T20 WC.

A lot will depend on their skipper Babar Azam. The batting maestro has been the face of Pakistani cricket for quite a while now. An important point to be noted is the fact that he is one of the best T20I players in the world as we speak.

The Pakistani skipper also happens to be the highest paid cricketer from Pakistan. His annual salary is 13.2 Million PKR, which is INR 62.40 lakh approximately. One of the major reasons for this is his amazing and consistent performances for his team.

6) West Indies- Kieron Pollard: INR 1.74 Crore

West Indies haven’t really been one of the greatest Test or ODI sides post 2000. They have struggled for consistency. However, when it comes to the shortest format of the game, they’re safety one of the best sides of all time.

Having already won the T20 WC twice, the Windies would look to win their third title this time around. A lot is expected from Pollard’s men. The Trinidadian has been in superb form of late as well.

The all-rounder gets paid more than any of his teammates as well. His annual salary is 1.73 crore Indian rupees. This is due to the fact that he has a white-ball contract and leads the West Indies in ODIs as well as the T20Is.

5) New Zealand- Kane Williamson: 1.77 INR Crore

New Zealand have been the silent assassins. Despite the fact that not many cricket experts term them as the favorites going into an ICC trophy, they often punch above their weights. It shouldn’t be surprising if the Kiwis do go on to have a good T20 WC this time around.

A lot of credit has to be given to their skipper Kane Williamson. It is safe to say that he is not only one of the best batsman but also one of the best captains going around right now. This has resulted in him being the highest earning New Zealand cricketer.

The Kiwi skipper has an annual salary of 1.77 crore Indian rupees. One of the major reasons for this being the fact that he leads New Zealand in all three formats of the game. However, taking his game into consideration, one could safely say that he makes a strong case to be actually earning more.

4) South Africa- Temba Bavuma: INR 2.5 Crore

The Proteas haven’t really been at their best of late. Their rebuilding phase has dented their ruthless reputation. However, they do have a lot of match winners and thus, can do well in the upcoming T20 WC.

Temba Bavuma will be captaining the Proteas this time around. Despite all the crticis, he has been decent to say the least. Despite being their captain, a lot of questions are going to be raised on his spot if he doesn’t do well in the WC.

However, despite this, Bavuma’s salary is the highest among the current South African team which is going to play the T20 World Cup. His annual salary is $350,000 which is 2.5 crore Indian rupees. He also leads South Africa’s ODI team.

3) Australia- Aaron Finch: INR 5 Crore:

Australia’s form has been terrible of late. They are yet to win a T20I series in 2021. It gets worse when you realize that they lost to Bangladesh as well.

The absence of their key players haven’t helped their cause either. However, all their main players have returned and thus, they’d fancy their chances in the upcoming T20 World Cup. It gets better when you realize that their captain is Aaron Finch.

The opener happens to be the highest paid Aussie cricketer from the T20 WC squad as well. His annual salary is 4.87 crore Indian rupees. The aggressive opener is the Australian ODI captain too.

2) India- Virat Kohli: INR 7 Crore:

Indian cricketers are one of the richest cricketers. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is deemed as the wealthiest board in the world for a reason. They always ensures that their players get a really good salary.

One can’t blame them as India’s performance on the field have been praiseworthy. Among all the Indian cricketers, the Indian captain Virat Kohli is the richest cricketer from his team without a doubt. None of his teammates earn as much as what he does.

He has a Grade A+ contract and thus, gets an annual salary of 7 Crore Indian rupees. His performances have helped his cause. His brand endorsements are honestly just a bonus for him.

1) England- Jos Buttler: 19 Crore:

It’s really shocking that the highest paid cricketer who is going playing the upcoming T20 WC isn’t Virat Kohli. It gets even more surprising when you realize that it isn’t even the English skipper Eoin Morgan. Instead, it is their wicketkeeper Jos Buttler.

While English players do have an annual salary higher than any other cricketer from any other international team, Buttler is currently the highest paid English cricketer who’d be playing the T20 WC. His annual salary is a whopping 19 crore Indian rupees.

This is mainly due to the fact that he has a white-ball contract as well as a red-ball contract. On the other hand, his skipper Morgan only has a white-ball contract. The fun fact is that there are a few English players who aren’t in the T20 World Cup squad but still earn more than the English wicketkeeper!
