T20 World Cup 2021: Namibia Predicted Playing XI against Scotland

Namibia and Scotland are all set to lock horns with each other in the Match 21 of the T20 World Cup 2021. Though, the former lost their opening fixture to Sri Lanka, the team bounced back stronger in the tournament. They emerged triumphant against both the Netherlands and Ireland to advance to the Super 12s. This is the first time Namibia and Scotland will play against each other in the T20 World Cup.
Against Ireland, the Gerhard Erasmus-led side exuded some great character to dominate the opposition. The side chased down the target of 125 and registered victory by eight wickets. This win confirmed their spot in the Super 12s for the very first time.
The team had never made an appearance in the T20 World Cup. The last time Namibia featured in a mega event was back in the year 2003 when they were a part of the 50-over World Cup. These strides by the associate members of the ICC helps to globalize the sport. After a grueling journey as the team has reached the tournament, they will be keen to put their A-game to the fore and make an impact in the tournament.
Openers- Craig Williams and Zane Green
The team will pin a lot of hope on their openers to provide a strong foundation in the upcoming crucial games. In most of the matches, their openers have got to some decent start but were unable to capitalize their innings from thereon. Both of the openers will be determined to put up a strong show at display ahead in the tournament.
Craig Williams has played 22 T20I matches for the team and has chipped in 563 runs. Whereas on the other hand, the keeper-batter Zane Green has also played as many T20I games and smashed 153 runs.
Middle-order – Pikky Ya France, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton
The middle order of the side will also have a lot of responsibility on their shoulders to hold the fort of the side. If in case the openers lose their wickets early on, the middle order will have the mantle of making valuable contributions to the side.
However, both Pikky Ya France and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton haven’t got many opportunities with the bat in the tournament so far. However, both the players have had tried their hands on bowling as well in the mega event. They will be determined to perform for the side according to the asks of the situation.
All-rounders- Gerhard Erasmus, David Wiese, Michael van Lingen, Jan Frylinck
One of the strengths of the Namibia side is their all-rounders. They have made some crucial contributions to the team’s victory in the Qualifiers round. Skipper Gerhard Erasmus has been exceptional for the team in the tournament so far.
He scored a valuable 32 runs against the Netherlands. However, in the pivotal game against Ireland, the skipper displayed his flair by hitting an impressive half-century and fashioned the team’s victory. David Wiese has been one of the most important cogs of Namibia’s wheel.
Wiese scored a belligerent 66 runs against the Netherlands. Whereas in the match against Ireland, he added 28 runs to the team’s account and also picked up two wickets. Jan Frylinck is also one of the key players on the side. He has chimed in with important wickets in the last two matches and helped the team get into a dominating position.
Bowlers- Bernard Scholtz, Ruben Trumpelmann, JJ Smit
All of the three bowlers struck with one wicket each in their first match against Sri Lanka. JJ Smit has maintained a decent economy rate in all the matches for the team. Bernard Scholtz, on the other hand, has considerable experience by his side. He has featured in 23 T20I matches for the team and has picked up 30 wickets. He will be keen on making an impact on the side. Though David Wiese and Jan Frylinck have made the major contributions with the ball for the team, their bowlers will be all raring to take the field in the marquee event.
