Two fascinating contests took place on Day 3 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. While Scotland continued their winning run by beating Papua New Guinea by 17 runs, Bangladesh bounced back and thrashed Oman by 26 runs. With the qualifying round being in its latter stage, Bangladesh and Scotland would be pleased with the results. However, the losing sides now have the onus to bounce back.

Speaking of Match No.5, Scotland won the toss and opted to bat in Al Amerat. The Scottish side justified the decision and posted 165/9 on the board. While Richie Berrington made 70 runs, Matthew Cross contributed with 75. The total would have been even more daunting had Kabua Morea not taken a four-wicket haul.

Chasing the target, PNG didn’t get a good start but Norman Vanua played some fine shots to keep his team in the hunt. However, Scotland eventually went on to win the contest. Coming to the evening game, Bangladesh got bundled out for 153 after electing to bat first in Al Amerat. While opener Mohammad Naim scored 65, Shakib Al Hasan made a quickfire 42.

Chasing the tricky total, Oman got off to a fine start with Jatinder Singh and Kashyap Prajapati playing handy knocks. However, Shakib and Mustafizur Rahman rattled Oman’s middle order and restricted them to 127/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
