As the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup nears the climax, Pakistan and Australia will lock horns with each other in the second semifinal of the tournament. The Pakistan side has been unstoppable in the tournament and is the only team that is unbeaten.

Babar Azam and his men have stepped up in every department of the game. The openers are in good form, the Pakistan middle order is firing, and the bowling department is also in good shape as well.

Pakistan will enter this match after a rousing win over the Scotland side in their final Group stage match. The ‘Men in Green’ posted a mammoth total of 189/4 on the board, and restricted their opposition to a score of just 117/6.

On the other hand, Australia will enter the knockouts after posting 4 wins in 5 matches in the Super 12 stages of the tournament. In their final group stage match, the kangaroos decimated the West Indies side with 8 wickets in the kitty.

Even though the West Indian outfit posted a decent total of 157/7 in their allotted 20 overs, Australia chased down the target with ease, with opener David Warner scoring a masterly 89*. These two teams have met in the knockout stages of the T20 World Cup just once before, and that was in the 2010 T20 World Cup semifinal. And, Michael Hussey’s 24-ball 60* helped Australia chase down a mammoth target of 192 set by the Pakistan side in that match.

Both teams will look to outdo the other, and there are no second chances at this stage of the tournament. Which side will live to fight another day?

Pitch and Conditions

Just 1 out of the 11 matches played at this venue has been won by the side batting second. And, that should give ample indications of what the captain winning the toss will opt to do. Batters should be patient in the initial phase of their innings to emerge successful on this track.
