Ahead of the 2021 T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka have revealed their new jersey on October 11. The jersey wears a unique look with an abstract design and features the traditional Sri Lanka jersey colors of blue and yellow, with a bit of orange, indigo and black in the mix.

The team has also named their final 15-member squad for the multi-team tournament, which gets underway from October 17 in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

Sri Lanka have made four changes in the original 19-member squad named earlier last month as Pathum Nissanka, Akila Dananjaya, Lahiru Kumara and Binura Fernando have been slotted in, while all seven in Kamindu Mendis, Nuwan Pradeep, Praveen Jayawickrama, Minod Bhanuka, Ashen Bandara, Lakshan Sandakan and Ramesh Mendis have been left out.

Of these, both Pradeep and Madushanka were injured, prompting the management to name Kumara and Binura as their like-for-like replacement, whereas Nissanka, who was one of the five additions named by SLC on October 1, is the only player to find a place in the final squad.

The trio of Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka, who were handed a year ban after being adjudged guilty in Durham bio-bubble breach, remain outside the team, while Avishka Fernando, Charith Asalanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Chamika Karunaratne and Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera, who all have been in decent nick of late have been retained.

Both Hasaranga and Chameera, who were a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing IPL, have been released from the IPL bubble to group with Sri Lankan team for the qualifiers.

Sri Lanka, who defeated Oman 2-0 in the recent T20I series in the buildup to their World Cup preparations, will kickstart their campaign on October 18 against Namibia in Abu Dhabi. They are grouped with Ireland and Netherland, whom they face on October 20 and 22, respectively. The Super12 will commence from October 23 2021.

Sri Lanka Squad for T20 World Cup 2021: Dasun Shanaka (c), Kusal Perera, Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya De Silva (vc), Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Avishka Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Chamika Karunaratne, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Kumara, Maheesh Theekshana, Akila Dananjaya, Binura Fernando
