Preview:

After the thumping win in the one-off Test match, the Afghanistan team will take on Bangladesh in the 3rd match of the T20I Tri-Series. Both the teams kick-started their respective campaigns with victories against Zimbabwe. Bangladesh’s win was more of a lower-order fight while in the Afghans case, it will a thumping one. The excellence and domination in various key match situations are why Afghanistan got a big win.

The Test defeat would surely run through the minds of hosts. Afif Hossain’s late hitting in the first match will make Bangladesh work on giving him a better batting slot. Najibullah Zadran had often spoken about his ambitions of batting up the order and he did not disappoint anyone with his knock against Zimbabwe. These two sides faced off in a 3-match T20I series in India during last year which was whitewashed by the Afghanistan team.

Weather Condition/Report:

For the 3rd consecutive day in Dhaka, the weather is expected to hold the key. The first match was delayed and reduced to 18 overs but nothing troubled the 2nd game. The match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan has weather predicted similar to that of the previous two days. Showers are expected from 1 PM local time but the chances do get reduced during the match timings.

Pitch Condition/Report:

Dhaka produced two decent matches one with a 145-run chase in an 18-over game and another match with over 360 runs being scored in 40 overs. The track hasn’t shown any great deterioration like we usually see at this venue. This is the reason why the teams have not shown hesitation in electing to chase.

Average first innings score: 175 (Last six unaffected T20I matches)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 3, Lost – 3

Expert Advice:

Shakib Al Hasan scored a fifty and 5-wicket haul during the World Cup game against Afghanistan. However, nothing close to that can be expected from the all-rounder in the game on Sunday. Shakib has been down on confidence and was bullied by the Afghanistan bowlers during the last year’s T20I series.

Probable Winners:

Afghanistan is likely to make it 2 in 2 by defeating Bangladesh.
