The Indian public came together to observe the ‘Janta Curfew’ which was called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, March 22, 2020. Modi had called for the entire country to observe a lockdown of 14 hours in order to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission in their cities. The pandemic has caused more than 14,500 deaths already across the globe.

As per videos and photos shared by citizens everywhere in India, the curfew was a successful one as roads and public places laid deserted. The PM had also called for the citizens to come out in their balconies and windows at 5 pm and clap, make noise by beating utensils and other things, in order to pay gratitude to the medical professionals, emergency and essential workers who are working round the clock to battle this rapidly spreading pandemic, everywhere in India and world.

Yuvraj Singh brings a stump to the terrace to appreciate medical workers

Social media was full of videos of people clapping, beating utensils, ringing bells and blowing conches in order to show appreciation for all essential workers at 5 pm on March 22 and not only common people, even celebrities, politicians and other known people participated in this exercise. One such celebrity was former India batsman Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj, who retired from cricket last year, came on the terrace of his home, along with wife Hazel Keech. Hazel was making a video of them appreciating the emergency workers when someone noticed that Yuvraj was holding a stump which he was banging on the railing of the terrace. This led to India pacer and former teammate of Yuvraj, Ishant Sharma to troll him.

Here’s the video:

Ishant Sharma didn’t spare his senior cricketer by commenting on that video that he had to clap and appreciate as per PM’s instructions and not beat anyone that he was holding the stump. “Paaji bande nahi kutne!! Taali marni hai”, Ishant wrote. The two share a good rapport and it was a surprise comment from Ishant, who is not known that much for his humor, while Yuvraj is a known prankster.
