It is a widely accepted fact that cricket has become a batsman dominated game. Bowlers are often seen helpless on the field with batsmen smashing them all over the park with ease. The bat sizes and the introduction of two new balls have piled on misery even on the best of the bowlers. The modern-day batsmen have also come up with innovative shots that have completely changed the dynamics of the game. Scores over 300 are being witnessed almost every other day and this is certainly not a good sign for the game.

In such circumstances, it has become increasingly necessary for the bowlers to come up with new tricks up their sleeve. Without variations, it is difficult for a bowler to survive at the highest level. From mystery balls, carrom balls, Knuckleballs, back-of-the handballs to slow bouncers, bowlers have tried everything but cricket remains to be batsmen dominated game. Just when it seems that the bowlers have tried everything, TNPL has unearthed an ambidextrous bowler who is capable of bowling with both hands. Yes, you heard it right!

Mokit Hariharan, playing for VB Kanchi Veerans bowled orthodox left-arm spin to a right-handed batsman and then switched to right-arm off-spin for a left-handed batsman. Vidarbha’s Akshay Karnewar was the first to showcase this talent in a domestic circuit back in 2016.

Here’s the evidence of Hariharan’s talent:

VB Ranchi Veerans lost the game against Dindigul Dragons by 7 wickets. Though the ambidextrous bowler did not pick any wickets, courtesy to some poor fielding, he scored 77 off 50 deliveries with his bat. The fans will be eager to watch Hariharan’s performance in the upcoming games as such talents are very rare. The Ranchi Veerans haven’t opened their account as yet in this year’s TNPL as they have lost three games out of three. They need to address their issues quickly and make a comeback so as to make it to the knockouts.
