Tamim Iqbal is one of the best openers Bangladesh has ever got and is still going strong in all the formats of the game. He is the dangerous batsman at the top of the order and the opposition always wants to pick his wicket early in the innings. The left-hander’s experience will come into play in the World Cup next year and he will be keen to make it count as well. However, Tamim wants to pick the brains of an Indian cricketer if he gets a chance to watch him play on the Television.

He was instrumental in Bangladesh’s historic ODI and T20I series victories over Windies in their own den recently. The 29-year-old amassed 287 runs during the 50-overs leg of the tour and scored a couple of centuries which ended up in a winning cause for his team. He continues to be the rock of their batting line-up and would be hoping to make it big in the upcoming Asia Cup.

Who is the player?

Tamim Iqbal expressed his desire to listen to MS Dhoni on the stump-mic while watching the game on TV in a candid interview to ESPN Cricinfo. The Indian veteran has been crucial to his team’s fortunes and guides the spinners especially on the way the batsman is moving his feet. Even the young wrist spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, have credited their success to Dhoni.

Tamim was the part of Bangladesh side which famously defeated the Indian side in the 2007 World Cup. He picked the six he smashed to Zaheer Khan as his favourite maximum ever and he had gone on to score 51 runs off just 55 balls in that game when his team had gunned down the total of 191 with utter ease to shock the finalists of 2003 event.

He also hilariously admitted that he would never be able to defeat his limited-overs skipper Mashrafe Mortaza in a swimming competition.
