Team India made a stunning comeback in the five-match series by beating England in the third Test match at Trent Bridge. They picked the last wicket of the opposition on the fifth morning and it took only 17 balls for them to end the proceedings and seal the game by 203 runs. The Indian captain Virat Kohli, in the post-match presentation, dedicated the victory to the Kerala flood victims after which the crowd in the stands applauded him for his gesture.

However, the Indian team has won the hearts of the fans by donating their match fees to the relief efforts in Kerala according to ABP News. The God’s Own Country (as they say) is struggling and most of the people in India have stood up for them. The Indian players are paid a whopping amount of Rs 15 Lakhs per Test match and if the total amount is calculated, they will be donating a massive amount of Rs 2 Crore approximately.

Kohli understood that the situation in Kerala is not so good and dedicated the victory to the flood victims in the state. “We, as a team, want to dedicate this win to the flood victims in Kerala. This is our bit we can do as the Indian cricket team. A tough time there,” he said while speaking after the match.

Indian cricketers standing up for Kerala

There have been efforts from all the Indian cricketers to help the flood victims in Kerala. Sanju Samson started it all as he donated an amount of Rs 15 Lakhs to the Chief Minister Relief Fund and the amount was handed over to the Kerala CM by his father and brother as he was in Vijayawada to play.

Reportedly, Sachin Tendulkar also donated Rs 10 Lakhs even as many of the former players also urged the fans to make an effort from their end. The relief efforts are still in progress as the SOS alert in Kerala is still on.
