The new trend set by the Indian team is inducting a new 12th man for each match day of a Test. The 12th man is usually a young cricket fan. The star performer for the team on that given day hands over a team India jersey to the young kid at the end of day’s play. Indian skipper Virat Kohli continued the trend after India thumped England in the Mumbai Test.

Kohli shared a cute moment with 8-year-old girl Anaya Jain at the Wankhede stadium. He presented her with the Indian jersey and thereby inducted the new 12th man. The official Twitter handle of the BCCI posted a picture of Kohli with the young fan on the social media. BCCI wrote, “Skipper @imVkohli inducts 8-year-old Anaya Jain as the #12thMan of #TeamIndia #INDvENG.”

The players, after handing over the jersey, usually have a small conversation about their day’s play with BCCI.tv. Earlier in the day, India bundled out England cheaply in the 2nd innings of the Mumbai Test to inflict an innings defeat on England. India now lead the series 3-0 with a match still to be played. The new trend started with wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel giving the jersey to twins Vivaan and Vismay. The 8-year old kids were excited to receive the jerseys.

On day 3, it was Murali Vijay who gave the jersey to young boy Dhruv Tandel. Vijay had scored a brilliant ton on the day to put India in commanding position. The day 3 saw Jayant Yadav present the jersey to 9-year old girl Anaya Bansal. Jayant had hit his maiden international ton batting at number 9. His efforts saw India pile on a mammoth lead that set the tone for India’s win.

The move from the team is definitely going to excite the young fans of team India. Meanwhile, the team continues to dominate the series and looks set for a 4-0 steamroll. The last Test will start on December 15 at Chennai.
