Team India’s preparation for the upcoming Test series against Australia took a hit on Wednesday as the rain came down pouring on Day 1 of the sole practice game at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The warm-up game against Cricket Australia XI is the only opportunity for the visitors to get accustomed to the Australian wickets, which is really important as far the Indian team’s preparation for the upcoming Test series is concerned. Pitches in Australia, unlike the subcontinent, are fast and bouncy and requires a game or two, especially for teams from Asia, to get used to.

However, the Indian cricket team has got the day added to their schedule for the warmup game. So far the tour has been affected by rain with two out of three T20I witnessing heavy downpour. With the toss delayed due to rain, Kohli and some members of the Indian team decided to spend time in the gym and work on their fitness.

The Indian captain shared a selfie from the gym where Ishant Sharma and Murali Vijay were accompanying him. “The rain doesn’t seem to be going away so we decided to make something of our day. Gotta love a good workout with the boys. #makeeverydaycount”, tweeted Kohli before the first day concluded without a ball being bowled.

So far, the tour has been fruitful for the Indian team and his men secured a 1-1 draw against Australia in the 3-match T20I series. Although the result put an end to India’s 7-series winning streak in the shortest format, the team would be really happy the way players have performed so far.

They played better cricket than the hosts in the T20 series and had the rain not affected the two games, the result of the series would have been different. The Test series will begin on December 6 and the first match will be played at the Adelaide Oval.

Here are the squads for the one-off practice Test:

India: Lokesh Rahul, Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (C), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Rohit Sharma, Murali Vijay, Hanuma Vihari, Parthiv Patel, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah

Cricket Australia XI: D Arcy Short, Max Bryant, Sam Whiteman (C), Jake Carder, Harry Nielsen(w), Param Uppal, Jonathan Merlo, Jackson Coleman, Harry Conway, Daniel Fallins, David Grant, Aaron Hardie
