India- The most successful team since January 1, 2015

India have recently dished out several brilliant performances in all formats of the game. Very few teams have been able to pose a threat to the Men in Blue. Their dominance has pinned down the best of oppositions. However, their ascendancy over world cricket has been for the last three years across all versions of the sport.

Apart from a few blemishes here and there, they have simply been insurmountable even for the best of oppositions. Since January 1, 2015, the Men in Blue have statistically been the most successful side in international cricket. They have played 135 games, winning 87, losing 36 and drawing nine while three games ended in no-result.

Dominance across all formats

Apart from the ICC World Cup in 2015 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, the Indian team has bagged literally everything. They lost ODI series’ against Bangladesh, South Africa and Australia, however, have been on an eight-series winning-streak since January 2016. Recently, they beat Sri Lanka in a 3-match bilateral series.

In the T20I format, the Men in Blue have struggled, yet they have managed to take home eight series victories, drawing a couple and losing three series. They were humbled two times by the Windies and once by South Africa. They also stumbled in the semi-final of the World T20 against Darren Sammy’s men in 2016.

India have also dominated Test cricket and currently sit pretty at the number one spot in the ICC Test Rankings. Virat Kohli took over the Test leadership from Mahendra Singh Dhoni in December 2015 and ever since he hasn’t lost a Test series, something which speaks tons about India’s form over the past 1096 days. In ODIs and T20Is, India is currently ranked second and third respectively.

However, they will encounter stern Tests in 2018 with tours of South Africa, England and Australia in the current year. Strong performances from his boys will only instate Kohli’s maturity and courage as the leader of the national team.
