The four-member administrative committee appointed by the Supreme Court to take care of the functioning of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) until fresh elections are held today made the first move. Vinod Rai led administrators today (February 6) sacked all the officials appointed by former BCCI president Anurag Thakur, secretary Ajay Shirke and closed their offices. It also decided that CEO Rahul Johri will now be responsible for all the appointments and tenure of the board officials.

Meanwhile, Team India’s media manager Nishant Arora who was accused of leaking inside details to former president Thakur has also resigned from the position. Just yesterday reports in the media suggested that senior Indian players had raised the issue ahead of the board that Nishant has been over indulgent and has been rather irritating for the players.

A senior Team India member was quoted by DNA as saying: “Is he (media manager) there to make things easy for us or to irritate us? There is so much of mistrust between players about who is leaking our personal conversation to the outside world,” said the player.

It is unusual for the media manager to be in the dressing room when the players are discussing their strategies for the game or when a discussion over the playing XI is underway but Arora was there at most places at all times. “Media manager’s job is to deal with the media but this guy (Arora) is all over the place… inside dressing room, during team celebrations, in team discussions regarding playing eleven etc,” added the senior player.

Nishant completely denied leaking the information to Thakur. However, it is also believed that Nishant manages Thakur’s social media activity which connects the two links. More details on his resignation and the administrative committee’s response are awaited.
