After a premature exit from the 2021 T20 World Cup, the Indian team is set to embark on a busy cricketing schedule, starting with the home series against New Zealand. India’s qualification hopes at the World Cup were reliant on the Afghanistan-New Zealand encounter, where a loss for the former meant India are knocked out.

The team will play Namibia in their final Super12 fixture on November 8, which will have no bearing on any team, as the four semi-finalists have already been ascertained after New Zealand’s eight-wicket victory against Afghanistan. Kane Williamson and Co. have joined Pakistan, England and Australia for the titular battle.

As for India, the team will depart from the UAE within a couple of days before the commencement of the New Zealand series. While the squad for the series is yet to be announced, it is understood that a meeting of the national selectors is impending, when they will also decide who will lead India in the T20I format, as Virat Kohli has relinquished his captaincy, and will play his final T20I game as the skipper on November 8.

India will play 6 Tests, 9 ODIs and 21 T20Is across six series – four at home and two away – between November 2021 to July 2022, apart from the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, which will see 74 fixtures being played in the April-May window. The team will host New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka and South Africa, while the away series are against South Africa and England. All Tests will be a part of the second cycle of the World Test Championship and ODIs a part of the ICC ODI Super League.
