The second T20 international match between India and West Indies saw the game being washed off after rain interruption. The second T20I had a delayed start due to a technical snag and ICC has issued a statement that the timings were tweaked after consulting to two teams.
Star TV has taken the stick for the problem faced in the match but ICC has claimed that nothing wrong happened there in the match and it’s not their call to set the timings.
“Taking into account the strategic considerations behind the staging of the two international matches in Florida, the match officials, on the request of the two competing Members, agreed to tweak the playing hours to allow the host broadcaster to overcome the technical difficulties,” Cricbuzz quoted an ICC spokesperson saying.
The rain interruption came mid-way through the match and the outfield was never ready for the game; the umpires then decided to call it off and with that, West Indies went on to clinch the series.

West Indies won the first T20I of the two-match T20I series by 1 run after posting a huge total of 245 runs on the board. Evin Lewis’ 100 from 49 balls with 5 fours and 9 sixes pushed the team towards the mammoth score. The opening duo of Lewis and Jonathan Charles added 126 runs for the first wicket and was well supported by the middle-order. However, India replied strongly with KL Rahul’s maiden T20I century and went so close to chasing down the target, but fell just short.
The Indian bowling was much more effective in the second match as they restricted Windies to 143. But the match was spoiled by rain after the first couple of overs in the second inning. A minimum of five overs per side have to be bowled to constitute a T20I match, which couldn’t happen and India lost the series 1-0.
