India veteran MS Dhoni, on Saturday, drew curtains on an illustrious international career through an Instagram video. The former Indian skipper shared a video depicting his international journey with India and announced his decision to walk away from the biggest stage.

The whole cricketing fraternity was shaken by Dhoni’s announcement. Social media, in no time, was flooded with tributes and wishes for the Ranchi stalwart. No one would’ve imagined that the unfortunate run-out incident in the 2019 World Cup semi-final would eventually turn out to be Dhoni’s last moment for India.

In his illustrious career, Dhoni had shared the dressing room with a plethora of players. Several current as well as former cricketers wished Dhoni luck for his second innings and recalled on-field and off-field memories with him.

Current India skipper Virat Kohli also penned a heartwarming message for Dhoni. While sharing a video compilation of his on-field moments with Dhoni, Kohli mentioned the mutual trust between the two.

The video also depicted the moment between Dhoni and Kohli in the 2014 T20 World Cup, where the former denied a single purposely, to let Kohli score the finishing run. All his teammates including Kohli had a hilarious reaction towards Dhoni’s gesture. India eventually qualified for the finals and the moment got etched in the hearts of millions of fans.

Dhoni called & I put my head down and ran: Virat Kohli

“Thank you for these moments skip. I couldn’t explain the mutual trust, respect and understanding we share better than these two videos I’m posting here today. The first one explains perfectly well who he is, selfless in the most intense moments,” wrote Kohli on Instagram while paying tribute to the former India captain.

Kohli also highlighted his chemistry with Dhoni. Because of the trust which they shared with each other, running between the wickets never looked so easy. Kohli revealed that he used to put his head down and run whenever Dhoni used to call. In conclusion, Kohli thanked ‘Captain Cool’ for giving him several on-field memories.

“The second one is about the kind of trust & chemistry we had over the years while batting together. In this moment I was only focused on his call & I knew we both would be able to make those 2 runs because of the trust we shared in one another.

He called & I put my head down and ran! Mutual respect and understanding isn’t a thing of chance, it develops naturally when two individuals are aligned & have the same vision and for us, that vision was always to make India win! Thank you for all these memories skip,” wrote Kohli.
