Rohit Sharma, the skipper of the Mumbai Indians (MI), have tasted loads of success in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Back in 2013, he took over from Ricky Ponting as the skipper of the team, whose fortunes changed thereafter. Currently MI are the most successful team in the championship, having won as many as four titles in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 respectively.

Hence, going into the 2020 edition of the mega event, a lot will depend on the Nagpur-born cricketer. Last year, the Mumbai team beat the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by a solitary run in the final in Hyderabad. For the time being, Rohit is all set to embark on a journey to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the IPL even as the COVID-19 pandemic keeps making the headlines.

Rohit is also gearing up for the same. Recently, he shared a picture where his daughter Samaira can be seen, helping him arranging his kit bag. The 33-year-old Rohit captioned the picture and wrote, “Got my packer in chief to help me get ready for the UAE Thanks, Sammy.”

Here’s Rohit Sharma’s post

For the last five months or so, Rohit has been spending some quality time with wife Ritika and Samaira. He was a part of the T20I series against New Zealand earlier this year, but developed an injury in the same series. Hence, he ended up missing the ODIs and Tests versus the Black Caps.

In one of the T20Is, he smashed a six in the last ball of Tim Southee to win India the game. Rohit remains to be a vital cog, both for Team India as well as for his IPL franchise. MI already have roped in the likes of Chris Lynn and Trent Boult and will be entering the IPL 2020 as one of the favourites.

The IPL is scheduled to start on September 19 with the final to be played on November 10. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will be hosting the matches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament was set to be played from March, but the coronavirus pandemic played spoilsport. The schedule is yet to be released though.
