The Pakistan Cricket Board has banned batsman Khalid Latif from all forms of the game. He represented Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League and was charged with six major breaches under the PCB’s anti-corruption code. The cricketer has also been fine a million Pakistani Rupees and has been banned for five years. Khalid is the latest addition to the list of cricketers involved in spot-fixing during the T20 League.

This is not the only time when Pakistan cricket has been jolted by spot-fixing and match-fixing allegations. In the year 2010, three cricketers including former Test captain Salman Butt and pace bowlers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamir were banned for a minimum of five-years by the ICC’s anti-corruption tribunal for spot-fixing on the tour of England.

Pakistan cricket hit by spot fixing scandals

Till now six Pakistan cricketers have been charged or provisionally suspended, while hearings are set to continue for Shahzaib Hasan and Nasir Jamshed. Under the PCB code, players can appeal rulings before an independent arbitrator within 14 days of the decision.Let’s have a look at the updated list of these cricketers and how they stand in the current scenario.

  • Played recently in the Independence Cup

5.Shahzaib Hasan

  • Found guilty of failing to report approaches
  • Inducing cricketers into corruption
  • Provisionally suspended in March 2017
  • Hearing is currently going on

6.Nasir Jamshed

  • Suspected of being the main culprit in the fixing scandal
  • Provisionally suspended in February 2017
  • Hearing is currently going on
