With three back-to-back wins under their belt, Manchester Originals were cruising to make it to the next round. However, with Jos Buttler’s injury, the think tank needs to sit and discuss their plan for the future. With Buttler being ruled out of the tournament following a calf injury, the team will miss not only their captain but also one of the best openers in the world.

The team, however, didn’t miss him much as they went on to beat Northern Superchargers in their 6th match of the season. Philip Salt and Laurie Evans gave a strong start to the team, and based on their solid foundation, Manchester went on to defeat the Superchargers by 23 runs.

In Buttler’s absence, Laurie Evans will be leading the side, and he has done well if the match against Superchargers is considered. With the bat, he scored 45 off just 19 deliveries and was good with his bowling changes. It will be interesting to see if he manages to help Manchester reach the playoffs. The team will return to action against Birmingham Phoenix on Sunday for one of their most important matches of the season.

When it comes to Buttler, his progress will be closely monitored. It is not known whether the 31-year-old can be a part of the Pakistan series, which begins next month.

More worries for Manchester as Andre Russell left the squad as well

Things don’t get better for the side as Andre Russell has now left the team to return back to West Indies according to ESPNCricinfo. The Caribbean giant left the squad to join Jamaica Tallawahs and focus on the upcoming Caribbean Premier League.

The 34-year-old played a brilliant knock against the Southern Brave when he scored 64 off 23 deliveries. He also took a wicket, giving away just 7 runs in his five deliveries. He was also adjudged as the Man of the Match. Thus, it’s certain that the team will be missing his service for the rest of the tournament. In the women’s squad, Erin Burns will be replacing West Indies international Deandra Dottin, who has also returned home.
