The inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) turned out to be a huge success for the country. As per the latest reports, it has been found that the league reached a total audience of 557 million through different mediums that included TV and digital-social platforms. It was also reported that their sponsors also churned out a great deal of money from this success.

A total media evaluation (visibility) of $54.5 million has been reported where title sponsor MY11CIRCLE had an ROI of 9.85x. In the same line, the valuation charts were topped by franchises in order with their rankings in the league. Winners Jaffna Stallions topped the valuation chart with $3.98m and they were followed by Galle Gladiators $3.82m. Dambulla Kings, Colombo Kings, and Kandy Tuskers had visibility of $3.54m, $3.44m, and $3.19m respectively.

It has been reported that Innovative Production Group FZE will be the official right holders for the LPL for 2020-2024. The first edition of the Lanka T20 league was played in bio bubble at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota. The event got staged between November 26-December 16, 2020.

“And ,I think with the love and support of the Sri Lankan Government, Minister of Youth and Sports Honorable Namal Rajapaksa, Officials of the Ministry of Health and the Sri Lanka Army, we will be able to make that happen,” said the CEO of Innovative Production Group FZE, Mr. Anil Mohan as quoted by Sri Lanka Cricket.
