Watch: The unapplauded superhero – Ajit Tendulkar: From being a boy in the ‘Maidans’ in Mumbai to one of the best to have graced the sport, Sachin Tendulkar has lived every second of the rise. Anyone who argued that Don Bradman could ever be compared with another cricketer was deemed foolish. Such was Don’s charisma, flair and class. But when the legend himself called Sachin to his home in Adelaide and showered words of praise one could see another legend in the making.

Sachin was then only 6 years old in international cricket. What followed is part of cricketing folklore. The man became a figure equated to ‘God’ in India and you need no further dimension to support his great influence.

But amidst all this there was one individual who Sachin valued the most and yet the world knew little about him. Ajit Tendulkar, Sachin’s brother is of a breed not very common in humans these days. Selfless, understanding, supportive and forgiving, Ajit was the rock which helped Sachin overcome those lean phases where runs were hard to come.

Ajit’s importance can be accounted from the fact that Sachin dedicated his much awaited 100^th international ton to him. He has set an example by sacrificing his own career and life just to help Sachin to glitter in his cricket career, which remains as an exception in today’s world. Ajit did not hesitate to finger point at his loopholes even during the last Test innings of Sachin.

This short film titled ‘The Unapplauded’ shows perfectly how Ajit used to motivate Sachin and guide him through his practice sessions. The kid Rohan is seen going through the hard yards of life to eventually go and represent the country with distinction. Priyank Bhadkamkar pays a tribute to Sachin’s elder brother Ajit in this short film.

The movie shows us that inspiration can come from anywhere or anyone and there are people whose dedication and hard work goes completely unnoticed, although they deserve much of the credit behind shaping up one’s future.

Harsha Bhogle noted cricket commentator says “I have known Ajit Tendulkar for 25 years and I can say with absolute conviction that he has been the real star behind Sachin’s career”. Brother, mentor, guide, friend, teacher. Ajit Tendulkar has played a lasting role in Sachin’s career, but has preferred to stay in the background. Its time to bring him in the flashlight.
