Team India is currently gearing up for the two-match Test series against New Zealand. The fans have seen fierce rivalries on the field between the teams but at the moment there is a strong healthy competition going on between Shubhman Gill and Prithvi Shaw to get their spot in the Playing XI for the upcoming series. And now, Gill has opened up over the same saying that there is no fight for the spot with his teammate.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma sustained a calf injury in the fourth T20I due to which he was ruled out from the Test series against BlackCaps and Prithvi Shaw was called as a replacement for the ‘Hitman’. Shaw’s inclusion sparked a debate between the former cricketers on who will play in the first Test as both young cricketers are currently playing in really good form with the bat.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has opened up on the same saying that there is no such thing called rivalry between him and Prithvi Shaw. The decision is in the hands of team management on whom they want to pick for the Test match and the one who will get the opportunity will look to use it to the fullest by performing well.

“Obviously, our careers started at the same time but there is no fight as such. Both of us have done well in our positions. It’s up to the team management, who they will play. It’s not as if there is a fight. Whoever gets the chance will try to make the most of the opportunity and not let it go waste,” the 20-year-old said ahead of the warm-up game against New Zealand XI,” Shubman Gill said ahead of the three days practice match against England XI as quoted by Times of India.

At the moment, Shubman Gill is in prolific form with the bat, who scored a double ton in the 1st unofficial Test followed a century in the 2nd game against New Zealand XI.
