The aforementioned trio has reaped hell of success in the recent past in the longer format for Team India. The trio has received a lot of praise from the cricketing fraternity and fans.
In the concluded year, the strong trio of Bumrah, Shami and Ishant broke a 34-year-old record set by the legendary West Indies trio of Joel Garner, Michael Holding and Malcolm Marshall, who had grabbed a total of 130 wickets for their national side while playing together. But, now it is being held by the Indian trio, who had grabbed a total of 131 wickets by the end of 2019. This shows the effectiveness of the Indian lads in the longer format for the India side.
Waqar Younis feels that the Indian side is producing good bowlers
Now, Waqar Younis, one of the best bowler of all time has opened up saying that India has worked quite hard due to which they have managed to produce bowlers like Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah. Earlier things were different but now these three bowlers have taken India to the supreme position across all the formats.
“If you see India has really worked hard in this area and they are now producing bowlers regularly who bowl in the 140 plus range. In the past, it was not like this. But things have changed. (Jasprit) Bumrah, (Mohammed) Shami, Ishant (Sharma) they have taken India to the top. That is why India is doing so well in Test and other formats now,” Waqar Younis said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
Furthermore, he talked about his policies to pick bowlers for the country. Waqar said that he keeps doing experimentation in ODIs and T20s. Muhammad Abbas, Imran Khan are some of the examples that he picked from the same.
“My policy is to keep on giving chances and experimenting in ODIs and T20 cricket. Give those bowlers a chance who are in form at a time. It is not that I ignore those who have performed consistently well in domestic cricket. Muhammad Abbas, Imran Khan are examples,” Waqar Younis added.
