Sanjay Bangar has been left shocked by the decision of BCCI for not extending his contract for the post of Indian cricket team batting coach. The former Kings XI Punjab coach was the only member who has been excluded from the coaching staff of Ravi Shastri. This decision came just in when India is going to start their home season against South Africa.

It looked coming from the BCCI but Bangar will become the culprit for the loss of World Cup was neither expected from anyone. The inability to find the appropriate batsmen for the Number 4 position for the Indian cricket team looks to be the main reason for his exclusion from the coaching staff.

After this decision in an interview with Times of India, Bangar said, “Being disappointed is a natural feeling, which lasted for just a few days. But I thank the BCCI and all the coaches, Duncan (Fletcher), Anil (Kumble) and Ravi (Shastri), for allowing me to serve Indian cricket for five years. This break gives me time to reflect, refresh and reinvent.”

His successful stint as a batting coach came to an end just at the end of the Caribbean tour. This tour came in favor of India which included T20s, ODI and Test without a sweat and the former Indian cricketer Vikram Rathour was appointed as the new batting coach of India.  Apart from Sanjay Bangar, the contracts of R Sridhar and Bharat Arun have been renewed by BCCI till November 2021.

Bangar says ‘NO’ to coaching roles outside India

Bangar said that he had quite successful years with the Indian team and the only thing they couldn’t achieve was the World Cup. He looked back to his last 5 years with happiness and had praised his time of working with some quality players like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma in his interview.

He also committed that he will not be taking the coaching roles outside India and this will give him some time to reinvent himself. There are rumors that he might play the role of batting coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore for the upcoming season if IPL.

Over the rumors of his rift with selector Devang Gandhi after being dropped from the position of batting coach, he said that “Had a very cordial discussion relating to my presentation with Devang, three days after the selection process got over,”
