The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) outfit has endured a poor start to their 2021 IPL campaign. The side has lost its first two matches in the 14th edition of the IPL and is now languishing at 7th place in the points table.

In their second match of the 14th IPL edition on 14th April 2021, the SRH side went down to the Virat Kohli-led RCB outfit by a slender margin of 6 runs. Chasing a target of 150, the SRH side could only muster a score of 143/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

And, one man who has come under the firing line is Manish Pandey. The right-hander took 39 balls to score 38 runs, and his slow approach has been criticized by fans and cricket experts alike. Even in SRH’s first match of IPL 2021, Pandey’s 61 failed to get his side over the line.

Sanjay Manjrekar feels that Kane Williamson should be in the SRH playing XI

And now, cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has opined that the SRH side needs a player like Kane Williamson in their side. He also added that he has always maintained this opinion.

Williamson has an extremely impressive record in IPL cricket. The New Zealand batting maestro has featured in 53 matches in the IPL and has scored 1619 runs at a healthy average of 39.49. He has also scored his runs at a decent strike rate of 134.80.

Williamson also won the orange cap award in the 2018 edition of the IPL. The right-hander plundered 735 runs in the 11th IPL season and scored his runs at a gargantuan average of 52.50 and an excellent strike rate of 142.44. In fact, it was Williamson’s stunning exploits with the willow in the 2018 IPL season that allowed the SRH side to reach the summit clash of the tournament.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side will lock horns against the mighty Mumbai Indians (MI) side on 17th April 2021 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The SRH side has been one of the most consistent sides in the history of the IPL and has reached the Playoffs stage in 6 out of the 8 seasons that they have taken part in the league.
