Ben Stokes is a cricketer who has quite a brilliant sense of humor when it comes to taking things lightly despite odds being stacked against him. He has had one of the best years a cricketer can have in 2019. He helped England win the ICC World Cup this year by making an amazing contribution to the final against New Zealand.

He then repeated his feat in the Ashes series, especially in the third Test at Leeds, when he shepherded no.11 Jack Leach to make 70 odd runs for the last wicket to chase down 359 runs, while making 135* himself. He earned the Man of the Series award in the Ashes 2019 from England’s side after being the Man of the Finals in the World Cup as well.

Rohit Sharma calls Pujara ‘Ben Stokes’; Stokes replies

Stokes, who is quite funny, was in focus recently, thanks to Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara. In the ongoing first Test between India and South Africa, on day 4, Rohit, who is playing his 1st Test as an opener was trying to get Pujara to move on, as Men in Blue look to set a formidable target for Proteas to chase in fourth innings.

Pujara stonewalled to 8 runs of 61 ball at one point of time and Rohit was getting frustrated. He urged his partner multiple times to run quick between the wicket, but Pujara being himself was playing safe. In the 26th over, bowled by Dane Piedt, Rohit tried to steal a quick single and was turned down by Pujara after having run down the wicket.

Rohit was furious and let go at his partner saying some choicest words and all of it was heard on the stump mic as the Mumbaikar said, “Pujji bhaag b******d, mai pohonch jaunga waha (Run Pujara, I will reach your end).” This is not a very nice way to motivate your partner to run, but it seemed to work for Pujara, who started taking on the bowlers a bit more and matched Rohit run-for-run.

Now when someone utters the curse word that Rohit said, the lip movement seems like they are calling out to England’s Ben Stokes. The word is a favorite of Indian captain Virat Kohli and every time he used to utter it, Twitterati would share the image or video and tag Stokes in it which ultimately got on the nerve of the all-rounder.

However, this time, Stokes decided to take a humorous dig at Rohit Sharma and tweeted, “This time it’s Rohit, not Virat….if you know you know “, showing Stokes might be fed up with his feed blowing up every time the word is uttered, but he knows how to take a joke on him.
