The former India skipper and legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar was recently spotted having some fun and relaxed time with Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar. Both of them are seen sharing a light moment with each other ahead of the high-profile India-Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup 2021. The former India cricketer is a part of the commentary panel for the marquee event.

Gavaskar thus took it to his official Instagram account to share a picture with Akhtar. In the image, the Pakistan speedster can be seen giving massage to the former India opening batter. The duo appears to be in a happy mood as they were seen smiling in the picture. Gavaskar also added a fitting caption to the post.

“He could seriously hurt you with the ball but boy, those hands give the best ever shoulder massage!” he wrote.

Virat Kohli could end lifting the World Cup trophy: Sunil Gavaskar

Team India is all raring to kick start their World Cup campaign on a positive note. However, ahead of the start of the tournament, Virat Kohli had stated that he would step down as team India’s T20 captain post the mega event. He then announced that IPL 2021 would be his last season as the skipper of the RCB franchise.

Gavaskar however thinks that playing for a country and a franchise is completely different. He also pinned his hopes on Kohli lifting the trophy and asserted that it would be a glorious end to his captaincy stint.

“Forget what happened with RCB etcetera, here he could end lifting the World Cup trophy. That would be the most glorious end to his captaincy that one could imagine. That will be fantastic. Because that will probably be the best ending he can have as captain (T20s). Playing for a franchise is one thing but playing for a country is entirely different. So winning a tournament for the country would be fantastic,” Sunil Gavaskar stated while speaking on Star Sports.

India will kick start their World Cup campaign on October 24 when they will take on their arch-rivals Pakistan. It is a highly anticipated contest wherein India has a dominating record against the Men in Green.
