Cricket is a funny game. A grade match in Australia just made the postulate stand strong yet again. A few days ago, a bizarre scorecard was all over the social media. It had all the batters from the team score ducks and one scored to a century. Ironically, the team even ended up winning the match. In a similar turn of event, another bizarre match in Australia saw a strange scorecard come to the fore.

Three bowlers managed to get hat-tricks in the same game. As many as 7 batsmen got golden ducks to their name in the unusual match. The match also saw one batsman emerge with a century as wickets fell in clusters, almost literally, at the other end. It was an Upper Great Southern Cricket Association Grade A match in Australia between the sides Wandering and Kukerin-Dumbleyung when this happened. The match was played on December 10.

The proceedings started with Wandering’s spinner Bailey Parsons picking up a hat-trick in the very first over of the match. He got rid of batsmen R Taylor (1), C Holder (0) and S pearce (0). In the meantime, batsman Scott Jefferis, who had come in at number 4, scored a fighting century at the other end for Kukerin-Dumbleyung. It was Evan Barrett for Wandering who got the prized scalp. He then got rid of A Frame and David Head for golden ducks to complete his hat trick.

The third hat-trick of the match belonged to Dumbleyung bowler David Head, who was at first on the receiving end. Earlier, the Dumbleyung had put on 186 on the board. In reply, the Wandering looked good at 154/4. It was then that Head who snared his hat-trick to bellow down Wandering to 154/7 in their 45 overs. Well, the result of the match does not really matter in competitions such as these where the scorecard takes all the attention.
