It would now be interesting to see how the Indian skipper is welcomed down under when the Indian team tours Australia in the quest to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Virat Kohli is certainly among the most loved cricketers by most fans across cricketing nations for his passion and aggression on the field. One nation that certainly is not happy with the antics of the Indian captain is Australia. The 28-year-old batsman announced recently in the post-match press conference that his friendship with the Aussies is over post the heated incidents during the tour.

Kohli has been a target for the Australia media since the warning that he issued to his counterpart Steve Smith after the latter crossed the line during the second Test at Bengaluru. Smith, meanwhile, has apologised to the whole team for his outrageous behaviour during the entirety of the Test series.

Following the Bengaluru Test, the Australian daily “The Daily Telegraph” compared the Indian skipper to United States of America President Donald Trump for being “completely untouchable.” and ” a law unto himself.” The Australian media also termed the skipper as “childish” and “egomaniac” following his comment on friendship with the Aussies.

Kohli was invited by the Tigers’ when the Indian team was touring Australia back in 2015 to play Test series, One-day internationals, and the World Cup. Tigers’ quickly made the announcement after his impressive display in the national jersey for India, with consistent performances down under. “Kohli fights like a Tiger; now he is one of us.” Announced the Tigers’ in 2015.

AFL Supercoach vice-captain Jack Riewoldt joked on RSN radio that the Tigers’ had disowned Kohli following the skipper’s latest outburst post the series.

“He actually came down to the Tigers one time and had the jumper on. We’ve disowned him. It is the old sponsor so he can have that (jumper),” Riewoldt jokingly said.

It would now be interesting to see how the Indian skipper is welcomed down under when the Indian team tours Australia in the quest to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
