Tom Curran is expected to be out on the sidelines for at least three months after the scans had revealed the depth of his lower back stress injury. The English all-rounder had recently pulled out of the entire BBL 2021-22 season after playing just four games after facing discomforts in his back and will now go into rehabilitation under the guidance of Surrey’s medical for the next few months.

Curran has had a tough two years in T20 cricket around the world as he had to miss the entire BBL 2020-21 season due to the Covid-19 restrictions. He played a few games in IPL 2021 and was part of the T20 World Cup squad for England coming in as injury cover for his brother Sam Curran. He wasn’t in the plans of playing XI for England but he is one of the better T20 players going around.

Tom Curran to miss the domestic campaign

Curran has not been named for upcoming England’s limited-overs series against West Indies and he will not be taking part in the domestic campaign as well as per the sources of the Cricketer. The 26-year-old will not be ready by the start of the County Championship, a first-class tournament that he last played in 2019. Curran’s ability with the bat makes him one of the top all-rounders going around in England.

The right-arm seamer has represented the country in two Tests, 28 ODIs, and 20 T20 internationals so far and has combinedly taken 65 wickets across formats. He has traveled for runs at times, but his variations with the backhand slower deliveries have always been his strength, and likes to take the responsibility in the death overs. It is very unfortunate that this lower back stress seems to be hurting his opportunities in the international arena.

England has a list of injuries already, as Jos Buttler is ruled out of the final Ashes Test with the damaged finger. Premier fast bowler Jofra Archer has also missed the Ashes owing to the elbow injury he had to face and is yet to completely recover from it.
