Top 10 bowling figures by Indians in Test cricket on Sri Lankan soil: Ravichandran Ashwin recorded his best figures in Test Cricket when he bowled against Sri Lanka in the first innings of the on going 1st Test match at Galle. With figures of 6 for 46, Ashwin not only recorded his best figures in Tests but these figures are the best bowling figures for an Indian bowler on Sri Lankan soil in Test cricket.
Ashwin, now became the 2nd Indian after Harbhajan Singh to pick up a 6-wicket haul in Sri Lanka in the longer format. Ashwin now became the 11th visiting bowler to pick up 6-wicket haul in Sri Lanka in Tests. Ashwin’s figures are the 6th best figures against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.
R Ashwin’s figures are the 3rd best figures by a visiting player in 1st innings of the Test match and 7th best figures by any player in the 1st innings of the Test match.
From India, only Ashwin and Harbhajan managed to pick 6-wicket hauls on Sri Lankan soil whereas Venkatesh Prasad, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath and Chetan Sharma had picked up 5-wicket hauls.
In overall, 13 instances of 4 or more wickets in an innings were recorded by Indian bowlers in Sri Lanka. Out of those, Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble picked up 2 each.
