Top 10 highest individual scores against Pakistan: Pakistan is a tough opponent to face under any circumstances. They are passionate, committed and no doubt have immensely talented players at their service. Be it any format, with world class fast bowlers and equally good spinners, Pakistan has been a side tough to beat.
They have never been short of quality fast bowlers who could instil fear in the opponent’s mind or the crafty spin bowlers who could bamboozle any batsman in the world.
During the early years, fast bowlers like Fazal Mahmood, Khan Mohammed and Mahmood Hussain represented the fast bowling attack of Pakistan. Also, modern day legends like Imran Khan, Sarfaraz Nawaz, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis single-handedly won matches for Pakistan during their playing days.
If these lethal fast bowlers were the identity of Pakistan bowling attack then spinners like Zulfiqar Ahmed, Aamir Elahi, Abdul Qadir, Mushtaq Ahmed and the pioneer of ‘Doosra’ Saqlain Mushtaq were also no less than match winners for Pakistan.
With such distinctive bowlers, Pakistan has been one of the most difficult opposition to play against.
However, over the years, certain players have overcome this ‘tough to overcome’ Pakistani challenge and have made gigantic scores against them.
Be it Dennis Compton’s 275 in the second Test at Trent Bridge, the combined assault of Conrad Hunte 260 and Sir Gary Sobers’ 365* in the 3rd Test at Kingston in the 1950’s or Virender Sehwag’s (309, 254), AB de Villiers (278* )and most recently Alastair Cook (263).
These remarkable talents have tamed the Pakistani bowling attack and made them look like toothless tigers.
