England in a woeful position despite Cook’s resistance:
  • Lunch: England 181 for 5 (Cook 56*, Buttler 5*) trail Australia 566 for 8 dec (Smith 215, Rogers 173, Broad 4-83) by 385 runs in the 2nd Investec Ashes Test, Lord’s, 3rd day.
Haddin has nothing to do with the explosive device: Police:
  • Police have confirmed that an explosive device was recovered from outside the Sydney property of Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin but have emphasized that they are quite sure that the device was discarded at random and not directly linked to the cricketer or his family.
  • “There is nothing at this time to indicate this incident is anything other than random,” Ryde Local Area Command Superintendent John Duncan said in a statement. (Read more about the story here)
Rajeev Shukla led GC to meet tomorrow to discuss on further T20 events:
  • After the suspension of IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League will have their first meet on Sunday to discuss the outcome of the issue. The GC is also expected to take further new resolution regarding the T20 events in India.

I wouldn’t agree that it is a second string Indian side: Robin Uthappa:
  • “I wouldn’t agree with you on that. Most of us in this side, and I think we have a pool of 25 players, all of us deserve to play for the country, it’s just that you cannot carry more than 15 in a side”. Nizakat Khan of Hong Kong suspended for rule-flouting bowling action:
  • Hong Kong legspinner Nizakat Khan has been temporarily suspended from bowling in international cricket after his action was found to be flouting the rule book and was deemed to be illegal by an ICC panel at the World T20 Qualifier.
  • Umpires reported his action after Hong Kong’s match against Nepal on July 15. An event bowling action review panel analysis found his elbow to flex beyond the permissible 15 degrees.
Adams relinquishes his job as Hampshire captain:
  • Hampshire, bottom of the First Division, have announced that Jimmy Adams has stepped down as captain of their LV= Championship side to find form with the bat.
Doubts over Steve Smith’s technique- absolute rubbish says teammate Mitchell Johnson:
