'Tu toh acha scout ban sakte hai' - Yusuf Pathan hails Irfan Pathan for 'a great find' Abdul Samad

A fearless hitter and a good finisher, Abdul Samad has been brilliant so far in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League. He was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL auction 2020 for 20 lakhs INR. Samad, who hails from a small village of Jammu and Kashmir, Kala Kot was handed his debut IPL cap by SRH’s assistant coach Brad Haddin for the match against Delhi Capitals after warming the bench for two games.

In his debut IPL match, the youngster scored not out 12 off 7 balls including 1 four and 1 six at a strike-rate of 171.43 as Sunrisers registered their first win by 15 runs. In the ongoing match between SRH and Chennai Super Kings, the 18-year-old got a perfect opportunity to essay the role of a finisher and make a notable contribution with the bat.

The young gun scored 8 runs off 6 balls along with bowling a spell of 21/1 in three overs. The Jammu and Kashmir rookie took the crucial wicket of Kedar Jadhav to reduce the opposition to a mere score of 42/4 within 9 overs.

Abdul Samad is off to a proper start: Yusuf Pathan

Being impressed with the leg-break bowler, the veteran Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan took to his official Twitter handle to shower praises on Samad. Yusuf also appreciated his brother Irfan Pathan for mentoring the young lad and jokingly said that he can become a good scout for IPL teams.

“A great find Irfan. Abdul Samad is off to a proper start with both bat and ball, a lot of potential in him. Tu toh acha scout ban sakte hai IPL teams ke liye @IrfanPathan,” Yusuf tweeted

Reacting to this, Irfan added that he has been unofficially essaying the role of a scout for the teams, “Haha lala mere unoffcial scout to already hoo;)” Irfan replied.

Irfan, who recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, was the first one to spot Abdul during a cricket trial two years ago. Being impressed with Samad’s abilities, Irfan promoted him to the senior squad for T20s and List-A matches. Pathan took the youngster under his wings and trained him ahead of the Indian Premier League.
