Twitter bashes Rohit Sharma for liking a negative post for KL Rahul

Luck hasn’t quite favoured Rohit Sharma of late, especially in Test cricket. Even as his position in the ODI and T20I teams remain unscathed, he is yet to cement his position in the side for the longest format. The 32-year-old is currently in the West Indies for the two-match Test series. But, Rohit couldn’t break into the eleven. Rather, Hanuma Vihari and Ajinkya Rahane were preferred.

The experienced campaigner had an excellent outing in the World Cup. In the mega event, he became the first batter to smash as many as five centuries in a single edition of the tournament. After his awe-inspiring run, it was expected that he would be getting a chance in the Caribbean for the red-ball fixtures, but unfortunately, he had to warm the benches in both the encounters.

Rohit made his debut back in 2013 versus the West Indies itself and notched back-to-back tons in Kolkata and Mumbai respectively. However, his Test career never flourished thereafter and he didn’t feature in the team on a consistent basis. Rohit has an average of over 80 at home in the format, but his poor numbers in overseas conditions have turned out to be a detriment in his career.

Fans wanted him to play in place of KL Rahul, who hasn’t been in the greatest of nicks by any stretch of the imagination. Rahul hasn’t gotten a substantial score for the last one year and the supporters are unhappy that Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, is persisting with him despite the failures. Rahul got a couple of starts in the first Test in Antigua and then got out when he got his eyes in.

In the first innings of the second Test, he perished to Jason Holder after scoring 13 off 26. Rahkeem Cornwall took an easy catch in the slip cordon. The Karnataka-born Rahul has been a recipient of severe criticism and a number of pages on the social media platforms have taken digs at him. In the meantime, Rohit has gotten himself tangled into a bit of a controversy.

One of the pages on Instagram made a post, which sarcastically called Rahul as ‘Bradman’. Moreover, it compared Rohit and Rahul’s numbers in Tests. Rohit liked the post and now the netizens are lashing out at him for his actions.
