Indian speedster Khaleel Ahmed got brutally trolled by the fans for his poor bowling in the 1st T20I against Bangladesh in New Delhi on Sunday. The hosts lost the first-ever T20I against the Tigers and Rohit Sharma-led side was outplayed by the visitors in every department of the game.

Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah won the toss and opted to bowl first. The hosts didn’t get a good start to their match and lost an important wicket of Rohit Sharma in the first over after that Indian batting line-up struggled in front of the Tigers bowlers. It was a small cameo that came towards the end of the innings for Team India in which Washington Sundar and Krunal Pandya added 29 runs in 13 balls. It helped the hosts to post a respectable total of 148 runs.

Khaleel Ahmed’s 18th over, bizarre DRS decisions and a dropped catch

During fielding, the hosts took some bizarre DRS decisions that put the Indian team in a difficult situation. But, the turning point came when Krunal Pandya dropped the catch at the boundary of Mushafiqur Rahim, who was playing at 38 runs, in the 18th over of the match. Moreover, the ball danced away to the fence for a four.

In the last two overs, Bangladesh needed 22 runs in 12 balls with the pitch not being very ideal for batting, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma brought Khaleel Ahmed back into the attack in order to bowl the penultimate over of the match. He started off well with two runs in his first two deliveries but after that Mushfiqur Rahim hit four consecutive boundaries on the remaining deliveries that put Bangladesh on top. By the time Khaleel ended his over, Tigers needed only 4 runs in the last six balls.

In the end, Bangladesh skipper Mahmuddullah finished the business by hitting a boundary on the third delivery of the over bowled by Shivam Dube. Initially, Rahim emerged as the Man of the Match for playing an unbeaten knock of 60 runs. Also, Soumya Sarkar (39 runs in 35 balls) and Mahmuddullah (60 runs in 43 balls) gave valuable contributions with the bat during the chase.

After the match, fans went on to slam Indian pacer Khaleel Ahmed on Twitter for registering poor bowling figures of 1/37 in his four overs.
